Since Jonathan Hickman rebooted the entire X-line at Marvel with House of X and Powers of X, the major focus of the X-line has been team books. In 2020, however, a couple solo series will make their way into the Dawn of X. The first is Wolverine, which was announced for February; and the next, according to a Tuesday announcement from Marvel, will be Cable, which debuts in March.

Written by Gerry Duggan, who currently pens the Marauders series, and illustrated by Phil NotoCable “will take the son of Cyclops to places he’s never gone before.” According to the press release,

Cable has always been destined for greatness, whether that be saving mutantkind, sparking rebellion, or both! But why wait? That destiny starts right here, right now! And as no stranger to taking promising young mutants under his wing, expect to see some of your favorite younger X-Men like Pixie and Armor along for the ride!

This action-packed series will be a perfect storm of adventurous fun and high-stakes thrills, with monsters, space prophecies, romance, and of course, explosions!

“I’m thrilled to be back working in the X-Universe and very happy to get the band back together with my buddy, Gerry Duggan,” Noto said in a statement. “Cable’s always been a favorite of mine and it’s fun to work in a painterly style again ala Black Widow. Very excited for people to read this book. I think we’re doing something really special. Stay tuned!”

Cable currently appears in Fallen Angels and X-Men, though his characterization in both series seems conflicted at best. Perhaps a new solo series will create a more unified approach to the character. With Duggan and Noto on the book, it’s at least sure to be an exciting read.
