It’s going to be a long wait until we have a super show again – but they are on the schedule. ReedPOP has just announced new dates for C2E2 in Chicago and ECCC in Seattle in December of 2021.
ECCC will now take place at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA on December 2-5, 2021. C2E2 will be held at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL on December 10-12, 2021.
C2E2 was held this year at the end of February – the very last big con before COVID-19, and ECCC was the first major show to be cancelled. Both 2021 shows had been scheduled for March.
While Seattle in December will be perhaps pleasantly chilly, some have already worried about Chicago’s notoriously harsh winters would adversely affect turnout. We say if there is a show at long last, people will probably go, provided it is able to be safely held.
New York Comic Con has not yet been scheduled for 2021.
ReedPOP will be holding more online Metaverse events to fill the gap until we can all meet again. Metaverse will kick off ReedPOP’s con season in the spring, with a summer show to follow. This year’s NYCC and MCM con were combined into a big virtual event which was well attended, virtually speaking.
ReedPOP president Lance Fensterman said in a statement “If we have learned anything from our experiences this year, it’s how resilient our fans, creators, exhibitors and sponsors are. We’ve come together to support and uplift one another, adapting to our new normal to create meaningful experiences that capture the community and excitement felt at any one of our shows. Now, we’re ready to look forward to 2021 and gearing up to bring you the best slate of comic con events possible, both in the real and virtual world.”
Event director Kristina Rogers also tweeted:
ECCC and C2E2 headed into December, but we made sure* to keep them back to back per usual so everyone stays on their toes.

With hopes of a COVID-19 vaccine in early 2021 running high, nothing would make us happier than a properly socially distanced comic con in 2021.
