DC Comics has shared a first-look photo at actor Brandon Routh reprising the role of Superman for The CW’s upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover. Routh, as teased at SDCC, is sporting a suit modeled after the one worn by the Man of Steel in Mark Waid and Alex Ross‘s classic Kingdom Come series.

Talk about comic accuracy. Look at those grey temples! That black belt! The red is also much brighter, and the chest emblem also appears to be larger, than on the costume Routh wore in Superman Returns.
And here I was thinking Ashley Scott returning as Huntress from Birds of Prey would be the most exciting bit of Crisis news this week. Seeing Routh in that suit has somehow raised my excitement level for this event even higher.
You can see the full look at Brandon Routh as the Kingdom Come Superman below. The five-part Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover begins on The CW in December.
UPDATE 4:00 PM Eastern: Routh has shared an additional look at himself in the suit, this one modeled after a classic Ross image of the character from Kingdom Come. The accompanying quote, “I’m always around,” is Routh’s last line as Superman from Superman Returns.
