BOOM! and Fox Film are running a slightly different variant cover promotion at Comicon this year.  See those two interlocking covers above?  They’re both for War for the Planet of the Apes #1.  Starting on Wednesday the 19th, the Fox booth (#4229) will have 2000 of the one on the right with Caesar on it and they’ll be giving them away.  As in free.  Then you can walk over to the BOOM! booth and they’ll have 500 copies of the Colonel/Woody Harrelson cover available for $10.  So it sounds like 1500 people aren’t going to have a matched set.

Official PR follows:

July 10, 2017 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – BOOM! Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Film are excited to unveil two exclusive WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES #1 interconnecting variant covers, available exclusively at Comic-Con International in San Diego (also known as San Diego Comic-Con, or SDCC), beginning Wednesday, July 19th, at the companies’ booths.

The second chase cover, strictly limited to only 500 copies, will be available for $10 at the BOOM! Studios booth (#2229), featuring The Colonel, as played by Woody Harrelson. The covers, which connect to form one image, are illustrated by Robert Sammelin (Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern).

War for the Planet of the Apes is one of the most anticipated films of the year and we’re excited to have our official prequel series launch alongside it,” said Filip Sablik, President of Publishing & Marketing, BOOM! Studios. “It’s even more exciting to team up with Fox at Comic-Con to deliver two limited-edition covers for the inaugural issue, forming one incredible image that no fan of these damn dirty apes will want to miss!”
