BOOM! Studios reveals covers for Swamp Thing is Killing the Children #1

BOOM! Studios first teased the horror comic crossover back at New York Comic Con ‘25; now we get a look at the covers for Swamp Thing is Killing the Children #1. Written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Werther Dell’Edera, Swamp Thing is Killing the Children clashes modern and classic horror characters when Erica Slaughter and Swamp Thing meet in this 60-page book, in stores December 2nd and on FOC October 19.

The announcement created excitement, with Tynion explaining the new title during the Tiny Onion NYCC’25 panel: “DC does want me to confirm that the real Swamp Thing that you love doesn’t actually kill children. There were some people nervous about the title.”

Swamp Thing is Killing the Children #1 will have a main cover by Dell’Edera, as well as  variants covers by Tyler Boss, Jenny Frison, Martin Morazzo, Hayden Sherman and Gabriele Dell’Otto.

“It’s such an incredible thing to see Erica Slaughter next to Swamp Thing” said Josh Hayes, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at BOOM! Studios, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club.  “Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson are synonymous with comics I grew up on, and absolute masters of their craft.  To have modern masters like James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera telling a tale like this is something – I mean Swamp Thing that I can’t wait to read!”

“I’ll admit the sheer brilliance of the title alone was reason enough to get excited about this, but James and Werther have gone deep and created a story that’s just as ambitious as any of the other classics in the Swamp Thing library. I think fans of both the SlaughterVerse and of the darker side of DC comics are going to be shocked and delighted when they see what we’ve been up to!” added Chris Conroy, Executive Editor for the DC Black Label imprint

In a world where the fears of children manifest into living, breathing monsters, this crossover brings one of horror’s most iconic characters straight into the Slaughterverse!

James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, the superstar team behind the smash hit Something is Killing the Children, push the boundaries for the very first crossover story ever told in the fan-favorite Slaughterverse.

Two siblings who are life-long comics fans find their way to horror comics, in spite of the fears they inspire.

As the terrifying visions from the pages of the comics start to come to life, Erica Slaughter will have to hunt down one of horror’s most recognizable figures—Swamp Thing himself!
