Bee and Puppycat fans don’t have to wait long for new content featuring their favorite duo. Coming to the Cartoon Hangover Select channel on VRV in 2019, “Bee and Puppycat: Lazy In Space” will expand the beloved world first created by Natasha Allegri and feature the space temps combatting “problems big, small, and totally weird, all while trying to make rent on time,” per a press release.

Plus, “Bee and Puppycat: Lazy In Space” will feature longer, 30 minute episodes and an extended season. Previous Bee and Puppycat content was limited to episodes that lasted less than ten minutes and spread over just a few episodes at a time. With a new runtime and more episodes, this new storyline will have significantly more space to breathe.

Cartoon Hangover released a brief first-look trailer for the new series on Oct. 23.

According to the press release, “Bee and Puppycat: Lazy In Space” will be co-produced by Frederator Studios (“Castlevania,” “Adventure Time,” “The Fairly OddParents”) and Tokyo-based OLM, Inc. (“Pokémon” the animated series). Allegri, who relocated to Japan to oversee the show’s creative team at OLM, will serve as showrunner. Her goal is to make sure that the new series matches the original in tone and execution.

Since the original “Bee and Puppycat” series was crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2014, where it raised nearly $900k and was backed by 18,000 fans, making it the most-backed animation project in Kickstarter history, the series has spawned toys, cookbooks, and more. Allegri’s comics series, published through KaBOOM! at BOOM! Studios, also began in 2014.

Episodes of the original “Bee and Puppycat” series can be streamed online via the Cartoon Hangover YouTube channel or on VRV.
