Back in 1998, comic creator Joe Madureira launched the Battle Chasers comic series. Despite the infamous delays, the series was a hit with fans. Over the course of four years, Madureira  produced only nine issues with issue #9 ending on a cliffhanger. As they say, good things come to those to wait because issue #10 is scheduled to arrive this June just in time for the 25th anniversary of the series.

Battle ChasersMaduereia will be joined by Ludo Lullabi on art. In addition, the issue will feature variant covers by artists including: J. Scott Campbell, Humberto Ramos, Chris Bachalo, Skottie Young, and Mirka Andolfo.

After the incredible success of the The Battle Chasers Anthology trade paperback in 2019 that has gone back to print multiple times, it’s no wonder as to why the series is finally returning.  As fans are well aware, Madureira and placed the series “on hold” in 2001 in order to pursue a career in the video game industry and forming a game development company called Tri-Lunar. A few years later, Marvel was able to pull him back into the comics industry by enlisting him to draw the Ultimates 3 miniseries and the opening arc of the Avenging Spider-Man series.

In an exclusive on the announcement with io9/Gizmodo. Maduriera explained the incentive to return to his creator-owned book after the long gap:

“I’ve been really moved over the years by the level of excitement Battle Chasers still generates decades after its original release. With the success of the Battle Chasers game ‘Nightwar’ and a TV show in the works, it felt like the perfect time to drop some new books. Working with these characters again has healed some part of my soul, and Ludo’s artwork is so incredible, I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on it.”
