Update 10/8/21: Ismahawk has issued a clarification that this series is “not an official live-action adaptation of the Batman: Wayne Family Adventures webcomic, and was not announced by DC or WEBTOON. The video was intended to be a short-form series created by Ismahawk, inspired by the webcomic.”
The original text of the article follows:
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, the first collaboration between DC Comics and webcomics service WEBTOON, debuted last month to much fanfare, and an almost-instantly massive audience. Now WEBTOON has announced that the adventures of Bruce Wayne and his many sidekicks will get a live-action miniseries adaptation, produced by independent studio Ismahawk.

The teaser video for the series, which you can watch above, features quick glimpses of the costumes for the series, which will feature the first live-action appearances of Damian “Robin” Wayne and Duke “The Signal” Thomas. The announcement of the series, released via IGN, includes a full character and cast list:
- Jonathan Bentley as Bruce Wayne
- Yoshi Sudarso as Dick Grayson/Nightwing
- Lisa Foiles as Barbara Gordon/Oracle
- Tim Neff as Jason Todd/Red Hood
- Peter Sudarso as Tim Drake/Red Robin
- Meghan Camarena as Stephanie Brown/Spoiler
- Gemma Nguyen as Cassandra Cain/Orphan
- Carter Rockwood as Damien Wayne/Robin
- Du-Shaunt ‘Fik-Shun’ Stegall as Duke Thomas/Signal
- Marcus Weiss as Alfred Pennyworth
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures will not be Ismahawk’s first foray into the world of Batman. The studio previously crowdfunded Nightwing: The Series, a five-episode fan series that launched in 2016.
The Batman Webtoon series, which updates with a new, free-to-read chapter every Thursday, premiered just under a month ago on September 8th, 2021. Within hours the series had tens of thousands of subscribers, and currently that count sits at over 600,000 followers.
Part of the fun of Wayne Family Adventures is the light, slice-of-life tone of the series. Some of the images for the live-action adaptation shown on IGN look more akin to the tone of the HBO Max Titans series, which is much darker and more intensely action-oriented. It’ll be interesting to see if Ismahawk is able to capture the look and feel of the WEBTOON series in a different medium. At least we know for sure at this point that Bruce will sport his instantly-iconic “World’s Okayest Father” mug in the live-action series.
