WB Animation has released, via Entertainment Weekly, the first trailer for Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The direct-to-video animated film stars Troy Baker, Rachel Bloom, and Ben Giroux as Batman, Batgirl, and Robin, respectively, as well as Kyle Mooney, Darren Criss, Baron Vaughn, and Eric Bauza as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The trailer features, among other things, the TMNT squaring off against The Penguin and his goons before encountering the dark knight himself, and a brief glimpse of a Batman/Shredder fight that could be the most epic thing I never knew I needed. Batman’s larger rogues gallery also puts in an appearance, as it appears part of Shredder and Ra’s al Ghul’s plot involves breaking them all out of prison. And Batman fights ninjas, which is something I will never complain about.
I have to admit I’m not entirely sold on the animation style, and Troy Baker sounds like he’s trying to do a Kevin Conroy Batman, but the sheer nostalgia factor means I’m still pretty likely to watch this. Check out the trailer below, and look for Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when it comes out in spring 2019.

What about those of us who were over 18 when TMNT debuted in ’84, and find them about as interesting as Transformers and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?
