The audio drama adaptation of DC/VertigoBlack Label’s The Sandman is just over a week away from its debut on Audible. Today the streaming service released a trailer for the series, featuring our first taste of actor James McAvoy as Morpheus.

The trailer is relatively light on content from the audio drama, but it still manages to set an epic tone for the series. The sweeping score and McAvoy’s ominous intonations as Morpheus are combined with visuals of swirling sands that coalesce into the Sandman logo before just as quickly dissipating (though I think some people’s mileage may vary on the title card calling the series “The greatest epic in graphic novel history”). For little more than a teaser, it certainly does a lot to pique the listener’s interest.

Based on the graphic novel series written by Neil Gaiman, the nearly 11-hour audio adaptation of the first three Sandman collected editions stars the aforementioned McAvoy, plus Kat DenningsTaron EgertonRiz AhmedSamantha MortonBebe NeuwirthAndy SerkisMichael Sheen, and many more. Gaiman himself also stars as the narrator of the series.

The Sandman will be available to listen to for Audible subscribers beginning next Wednesday, July 15th.
