The Hollywood Reporter states Asa Germann (Gen V, Scream 7) is in final talks to play Angel/Warren Worthington III in 2028’s X-Men movie. Germann, 28, had auditioned to play Cyclops in the film before Kit Connor was cast, but reportedly impressed Marvel Studios enough that they offered him the role of another member of the original X-Men.

As announced at D23, director Jake Schreier‘s X-Men will be released on May 5, 2028, and also star as Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue/Anna Marie, Maya Boyd as Storm/Ororo Munroe, and Adam Driver as “Nathaniel Milbury”.

Warren/Angel was introduced as a member of the original X-Men line-up by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963, along with Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl/Jean, Beast/Hank McCoy, and Iceman/Bobby Drake. Germann will be the third main actor to play him on film, following Ben Foster in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and Ben Hardy (who played the villainous version Archangel) in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).

Germann, who is the son of actors Christine Mourad and Greg Germann (Ally McBeal), portrayed Sam Riordan on Gen V from 2023 to 2025, and on season four of The Boys (2024). His upcoming projects include next year’s Tulsa King spin-off Frisco King, starring none other than Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson.

In the meantime, the X-Men will return to the big screen in Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, and the MCU will continue when VisionQuest premieres on Wednesday, October 14.
