Writer Zac Thompson and artist Andy MacDonald are teaming on a new series called I Breathed A Body, a sci-fi horror series about all the scariest things currently on earth: social media, big tech, and influencer culture.

The book is yet another new title being published by AfterShock Comics, and the first issue is slated to hit on January 20. The premise is a sharp one, wherein the most powerful social media influencer on the planet posts something irrevocably awful and it changes the world. The plot jumps off from there. I should point out as well that it’s interesting timing that this book was announced today, basically simultaneously with the news that the federal government was filing an antitrust lawsuit against real world tech giant, Google. Not that that lawsuit has anything directly in common with this book, but it’s thematically in the same neighborhood.

Anyway, the full press release from AfterShock about I Breathed A Body can be found below, followed by the wild official cover…

A science fiction horror series about social media, big tech, and influencer culture.

It’s The Social Network meets Hellraiser. When the world’s biggest influencer posts something irredeemably horrific online, the world changes in an instant. Now it’s up to his social media manager, Anne Stewart, to fan the flames of outrage and create a sensationalist campaign that rewrites the rules of “banned content.” Thus begins a carnival of lust, revulsion, desire, and disgust – all for viral videos.

Written by Zac Thompson (LONELY RECEIVER, UNDONE BY BLOOD, X-Men) and illustrated by Andy MacDonald (Multiple Man, Rogue Planet), I BREATHED A BODY is a horror series about the voyeurism of violence and the Big Tech companies who
engineer patterns of fear in society.
