Archie Comics has released their solicitations for titles shipping in December 2019. Here are some highlights:
- As previously announced, following the Jughead: The Hunger vs. Vampironica crossover, the latter character returns to a new solo adventure in Vampironica: New Blood by Frank Tieri, Michael Moreci, and Audrey Mok.
- December is the holiday season, and Archie’s celebrating with Archie’s Christmas Spectacular #1, a one-shot of holiday-themed stories in the classic Archie style.
It’s otherwise notable what’s not included in these solicits: there’s no new issue of the main Archie title, or of miniseries like Archie 1955 and Archie: The Married Life – 10th Anniversary, or of other ongoing digest series. For at least some of those books, that’s due to a shipping delay as a result of Christmas falling on a Wednesday:

schedule, select Archie Comics titles originally scheduled for release on 12/25 have been moved to early January 2020, including new issues of ARCHIE 1955, ARCHIE: THE MARRIED LIFE 10th ANNIVERSARY, ARCHIE VS. PREDATOR 2, WORLD OF ARCHIE JUMBO DIGEST, ARCHIE MILESTONES DIGEST, and one additional title.
That still doesn’t account for the lack of an issue of Archie, which is scheduled to wrap up the “Archie & Sabrina” storyline in November. What will the future of that series be beyond that story? Could its absence from the December solicits be an indicator of something more? Or did they just decide to take the month off and enjoy the end of the year? Time will tell.
