AMC has announced today that they will debut their third show set in the Walking Dead universe at their panel at New York Comic Con. This will be the network’s second spin-off show, based on the comic by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard.
The Walking Dead executive producer Matthew Negrete will act as showrunner. New cast members include Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, and Nico Tortorella. They will attend the panel, and will be joined by show co-creator Scott M. Gimple.
The Walking Dead shows so sign of slowing down. A few months ago, AMC announced the return of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in an untitled The Walking Dead film, which will apparently hit theatres. The network’s first spin-off show, Fear the Walking Dead, is still ongoing and was recently renewed for another season.

This is 21st century pop culture. The Walking Dead’s 9th season was an improvement on seasons 7-8 but a full-body rash would have been an improvement on seasons 7-8. Fear the Walking Dead has fallen off a cliff creatively and the ratings have made it just another cable show. The comic even stopped publishing.
Yet as all signs point to a franchise that’s ready for the scrap heap, we’re not only getting a third TV show but an honest-to-goodness-playing-in-theaters motion picture.
This is not going to end well. Any of it.
Mike
Oh, shut up.
