The work of Carta Monir is always emotional and poignant. She recently made available her 2017 comic RIPMOM, originally published as part of the Eisner-Award nominated Critical Chips 2 anthology. RIPMOM is about the aftermath of her mom’s death. Losing someone you love is always difficult and people react in different ways. In Carta’s comic, this leads to what I could only describe as “painful emancipation”. The story is a bit cryptic, being told through various computer interface, but it’s another stunning work.
You can read RIPMOM in it’s entirety here and you can see more of Carta’s comics on her website. You can also follow her on Twitter
