A couple of publishing announcements that caught our eye the other day.
• Tokyopop will publish Kenji Sonishi’s NekoRamen. a manga about a cat who cooks ramen. SOLD. Via Johanna, who has a rundown of the busy marketing campaign, which includes weekly online comics.
• Slave Labor has announced CAPTAIN LONG EARS, the debut graphic novel from Diana Thung. It’s about a boy, whose father recently died, who pretends to be a space ninja. With his imaginary gorilla friend, he attempts to rescue an elephant at an amusement park. Looks Sendakian but cute.
Captain Long Ears looks brilliant. I’ve seen some of the interior work, and the sequentials are definitely a must-see.
Captain Long Ears bears more than a passing resemblance to one of the protagonists of Jamaica Dwyers’s “Weird Fishes”, which was also published by SLG. Wonder what’s up with that.
I love that SLG continues to put out books that are not the superhero norm! :)
Super excited to see Captain Long Ears – Diana Thung will actually be doing a book with Top Shelf as well, in 2011 (AUGUST MOON). Cheers to SLG for good taste!
Why does this remind me of that new Adventure Time animated series that coming up on the Cartoon Network?
