Producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa strikes again with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a 10-episode Netflix series coming just in time for Halloween thrills. The official trailer just dropped and it looks thrilling and chilling indeed. The logline:

Her name is Sabrina Spellman. Half witch. Half mortal. On her 16th birthday, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) has to make a choice between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends. With her aunties (Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis), her cat Salem, and her boyfriend Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), Sabrina will face horrors and new adventures in the mysterious town of Greendale. From the executive producers of Riverdale comes a haunting new tale. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres October 26. Only on Netflix.

In the trailer we see Sabrina faced with the choice her mixed heritage requires, but the over all the tone is a scary mix of teen coming of age mixed in with covens, rituals, blood and everything else you need to a Halloween binge night.  Plus Salem!

Sabrina – originally created in the comics by George Gladir and artist Dan DeCarlo –  was previously on TV in the long running Melissa Joan Hart vehicle, which was more of a comfy comedy, with a talking, advice spewing Salem.

Aguirre-Sacasa, who also developed the cult hit Riverdale, developed Sabrina with jack of all trades Greg Berlanti and also wrote the comic on which its based. So far his knack for taking classic Archie characters and twisting the fantasy of the small town Americana of the 50s into something modern and creepy seems totally on track.
