For weeks I’ve been trying to watch The Haunting of Hill House, the newish Netflix series based on the classic Shirley Jackson novel – but only under optimal conditions. Namely, during the day and with a lot of people around. The first movie version of Jackson’s novel, called simply The Haunting, is by far the […]
Tomorrow Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hits Netflix just in time for fans to binge watch the series for Halloween. To whet your appetites take a look at the show’s opening title sequence featuring spooktacular artwork by Robert Hack who drew the original comic series from Archie written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. For those few people who […]
Producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa strikes again with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a 10-episode Netflix series coming just in time for Halloween thrills. The official trailer just dropped and it looks thrilling and chilling indeed. The logline: Her name is Sabrina Spellman. Half witch. Half mortal. On her 16th birthday, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) has […]
After the success of the darker and edgier Riverdale on the CW, it came to no surprise when a new television project based on the incredibly popular The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was announced. Looks like the show has even more going for it with the news that Mad Men alumni Kiernan Shipka has been […]
Ever since Riverdale became an off-kilter cult hit on the CW, people have been wondering “When is Sabrina coming back to the small, streaming screen?” And now you have the answer: it’s in development for the CW as THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, a new one-hour dark drama/horror project. The show is in development for the […]
If you’re like me, this special Valentine’s day greeting from Cole Sprouse and KJ Apa – Apa with his adorable native Kiwi accent – was just what you needed! But what Archie Comics needs is yet more TV. And as Graeme McMillan at THR reports, in the wake of Riverdale’s success, that’s just what they are getting, […]
I don’t have a lot of time to write about this today but I really enjoyed Riverdale, the new CW show based on Archie comics. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has put together a witty and intrguing homage to Twin Peaks – which was in its own way a reinvention of wholesome suburban teen melodrama as portrayed […]
Archie had something of a creative renaissance when the publisher launched Afterlife with Archie in October of 2013 with Archie Creative Chief Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Spider-Man) on writing duties and Francesco Francavilla (Batwoman) on art. However, fan haven’t seen a new issue of the series since May. Only eight installments of the series launched between 2013 and 2015– with no […]
The enduring and malleable world of Archie Comics is headed or another medium with a Broadway musical now in development with Adam McKay and his Funny or Die production shingle. McKay (Anchorman, Talledega Nights) will write the book; a team for the music has not been announced.
On the Archie side, the show is in good hands: CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has a long history as a playwright and he was once brought in fix Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. President Jon Goldwater will also assist with the development of a show that will be “bright, colorful and slightly demented” according to McKay.
