Conan’s new home is Marvel, as we all know, with writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic already signed up for a title debuting in the next few months. Well, today at NYCC we learned Marvel plan to offer a double dose of barbarian brutality, with the news that Gerry Duggan, Ron Garney and colorist Richard Isanove will be the creative team for Savage Sword of Conan in February.

In an interview on the Marvel website, Duggan says

“I hope it has all the hallmarks of a great Conan tale. It starts on the high seas, there’s treasure, there’s fighting, there’s a potential romance, there’s a little bit of comedy, and there’s Conan swinging all kinds of weapons at death cultist’s heads.”

Covers will be provided by Alex Ross.

In addition to the new series, Marvel plan to publish a series of Conan novellas which will be serialised three pages at a time in the back of both the now-announced Conan series.
