Kate Beaton is a Canadian national treasure. Her art is always lovely, her sense of humour refreshing and clever. Beaton offers us her holiday 2016 comic strip presented in two long posts. If you’re only familiar with her published books Hark! A Vagrant and Step Aside Pops, this is a much more personal series of comics. Beaton recounts her holidays with her family, including all the awkward moments that comes with staying at your parents’ house and rediscovering their quirks after a long absence. There’s also a hilarious recurring gag about her parents replacing her absence with a dog.

You can read the first part here and the second part here.

  1. Beaton has several different styles/formats of comics (Hark! A Vagrant historical / literary humor, personal history, and her wonderful family strips.)

    And they’re all great!
