Archie is coming to TV.
A “dark, twisty” drama series that was originally picked up for FOX, Riverdale has been officially picked up by The CW. Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Josie and the Pussycats will take center stage in live-action this fall. Greg Barlanti, head of The Flash and Arrrow, will produce this series. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Archie’s Chief Creative Officer, is penning the pilot.
“The CW is a perfect for for the vibe and tone of the Riverdale series,” said Archie Comics CEO/Publisher, Jon Goldwater. “We couldn’t be in better hands. Working with WB, Greg Berlanti and having Roberto involved has made this a dream project come to life. This is a major, major thing for this company.”
“…will take center stage in live-action this fall.”
Can’t be this fall, can it? The CW have already released their schedule — complete with midseason replacements. http://deadline.com/2015/05/the-cw-fall-schedule-2015-upfronts-new-shows-legends-of-tomorrow-crazy-ex-girlfriend-originals-reign-1201426516/
Sounds like an order for pilot season 2016.
This was pretty much inevitable, don’t you think?
