Valiant is going big in 2020, from the Bloodshot movie starring Vin Diesel to brand new runs featuring iconic characters and superstar creative teams. Among the new series debuting in 2020 is the all-new X-O Manowar, written by Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum, illustrated by Emilio Laiso, colored by Ruth Redmond, and lettered by Hassan Otsman-Elhaou. Today, The Beat can exclusively reveal the covers for X-O Manowar #1, including a main cover by Christian Ward and a bronze variant by Raúl Allén.

“There’s nothing quite as intimidating as following up a defining run of a flagship character with a new #1. Which is why for 2020’s launch of X-O Manowar, I wanted to pull out all the stops!” said series editor Heather Antos in an exclusive statement for The Beat. “From Christian Ward to Jeff Dekal, Rod Reis, Greg Smallwood and more, the industry’s top talent have joined forces to kick off Dennis Hopeless and Emilio Laiso’s take on the Alien Armor-donning Visigoth warrior!”

Originally debuting in 1992, X-O Manowar was co-created by writers Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart, and artists Bob Layton and Barry Windsor-Smith. The character most recently appeared in the character-defining, 26-issue series written by Matt Kindt and illustrated by Tomas Giorello, which concluded earlier this year.

Solicit info for the new X-O Manowar #1 will be revealed at a later date, but the issue hits shelves March 25, 2020. You can check out a sneak peek at interior art over at The Hollywood Reporter.
