“How can a show get canceled this many times, by this many networks?” asks Bender B. Rodriguez (John DiMaggio) in the Futurama season 11 premiere, “The Impossible Stream.” Fortunately, that’s not a question that’s relevant to fans of the sci-fi animated sitcom from Matt Groening and David X. Cohen: Hulu has renewed Futurama for two additional seasons. All the way through season 14? Huzzahs are in order!
Futurama Renewed Again
Futurama is one of the best shows – you know because it’s been canceled two or three times. Originally aired on the Fox Network, Futurama was cancelled after four production seasons (which aired as five seasons). After reruns on Adult Swim proved successful, the show returned for four straight-to-DVD movies. The series was subsequently revived for four seasons at Comedy Central, and then canceled again.
Ten years later, and after some slight turbulence, the Hulu Futurama revival reunited the main cast of the original series (again). DiMaggio (Bender, various), Billy West (Philip J. Fry, Hubert J. Farnsworth, John Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan, various), Katey Sagal (Turanga Leela), Lauren Tom (Amy Wong), Phil LaMarr (Hermes Conrad), Tress MacNeille (Mom, various), Maurice LaMarche (Kif Kroker, various), Dawnn Lewis (LaBarbara Conrad), Frank Welker (Nibbler), and David Herman (Scruffy Scruffington) all returned to repirse their roles.
Futurama seasons 13 & 14
Like Futurama seasons 11 & 12, Futurama seasons 13 & 14 will each be 10 episodes long.
