Once again, the weekend has arrived, and that means it’s time for Weekend Reading 78Δ! Per the usual these past seventy-eight weeks (or so), we’ll be holing up in Stately Beat Manor and riding out the latest variant wave while lost in a good book!
As always, The Beat team hopes that you’ll share your reading plans with us in the comment section, or over on social media @comicsbeat!
AVERY KAPLAN: This weekend I’m going to be reading a nonfiction comic: Lily Renée, Escape Artist: From Holocaust Survivor to Comic Book Pioneer by Trina Robbins, Anne Timmons, mo oh, Felix Ruiz, Cayetano Garza Jr., and Studio C10. Then, I’m going to be reading one of the DC middle grade graphic novels I’ve haven’t had a chance to check out yet: Teen Titans: Raven by Kami Garcia, Gabriel Picolo, Jon Sommariva, Emma Kubert, David Calderon, and Tom Napolitano.
JOHANNA DRAPER CARLSON: Hi, y’all! Happy to join in this week. I’m going to be reading the new volumes of several favorite manga series that have come out over the past few weeks: Yotsuba&! volume 15 by Kiyohiko Azuma, A Man and His Cat volume 4 by Umi Sakurai, and my very favorite, What Did You Eat Yesterday? volume 16 by Fumi Yoshinaga.
DEAN SIMONS: From my late night wanderings on Youtube, I stumbled across someone recommending fantasy novels. Since they rated Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn trilogy – which got me back into reading fantasy as an adult – I decided to try one of their other recommendations (and attempt YA at the same time), so this weekend I will be reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake.
TAIMUR DAR: Going back to finish the last volume of Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth series, reading Volume 6, “Wild Game.”
