A lot of people have been linking toWhite Taylor’s comic about surviving a sexual assault. It’s tough reading and brave but a needed reminder about the real life pain that certain acts people blog and tweet about all day actually have. Taylor writes:
“The interesting thing is that the majority of sexual assaults occur with someone that the person knows prior. It’s common, particularly in these situations, to feel a lot of guilt over one’s actions. Victims often report that they wish they could’ve done something ‘different’ or that they welcomed it in some way.
Regardless of what you were doing before, be it drinking at the bar or hooking up with someone, you have the right to say NO at any point and have that respected. If that NO is not respected, it is non-consensual, and that is sexual assault.
