It’s hard to believe it was only a few months ago that the comics industry was rocked by news of an expansive deal between writer Scott Snyder and comiXology for a slate of new titles. As revealed in the original announcements, the books will get physical releases from Dark Horse Comics. Today the publisher announced the release details for periodical issues of the book We Have Demons by Snyder, and co-creator and frequent collaborator Greg Capullo, inker Jonathan Glapion, colorist Dave McCaig, and letterer Tom Napolitano.
Understandably, the comiXology Originals content as well as the various deals of comic creators including Snyder with the Substack online newsletter platform freaked comic retailers out a bit at the time. However, as Snyder stated at the time in an interview with The Beat, he cares deeply about comic retailers and believes that these opportunities are “going to give creators more control of their own careers and be able to help with retail in a different way.”
In fact, Snyder reiterated the same sentiment in the official press release:
“Greg and I got our start in comic shops and we’ll be forever grateful for all the support we’ve received from fans and retailers over the years. We have the best fans in the world and we can’t wait for this crazy story to reach the direct market.”
The 3 issues of We Have Monsters will be released between March and May with each issue featuring bonus material and a main cover by Capullo. Likewise, each issue will also have variant cover options including a foil variant cover of the main cover as well as a variant cover by one of Snyder’s frequent collaborators as broken down below:
- We Have Demons #1 features a variant cover by Jock [on sale March 23, 2022]
- We Have Demons #2 features a variant cover by Francis Manapul [on sale April 20, 2022]
- We Have Demons #3 features a variant cover by Francesco Francavilla [on sale May 18, 2022]
Founder and President of Dark Horse Entertainment Mike Richardson described his excitement to publish Snyder’s book in print:

The co-creators of these comics are truly some of the most distinguished and popular artists working today and We Have Demons is the perfect debut title from Best Jackett and comiXology Originals, as it joins Dark Horse’s prestigious library of groundbreaking horror comics, alongside the likes of Hellboy and Harrow County.”
Head of Content at comiXology Chip Mosher teased what’s to come from Snyder and his Best Jackett Press imprint.
“ComiXology Originals loves to endlessly experiment and it’s fantastic to roll out our first ever print single issues via our deal with Dark Horse Comics. We Have Demons has received an amazing response with comiXology Originals, so we wanted to try something different and make a splash with the lead title in this program. Next year, we’ll see more comiXology Originals titles from Snyder/Best Jackett Press, with comics created by Rafael Albuquerque, Jamal Igle, Jock, Tula Lotay, and Dan Panosian.”
The first issue of We Have Demons will be available in stores on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. The trade paperback release of We Have Demons will be available on August 9, 2022
