The following is a list of books DC plans to release between September 2015 and January 2016.  It’s tentative (as we see from the first title, itself pushed back four months from the original scheduled date).

This list also covers the important Holiday gift giving season.  What will retailers be able to offer the ravaging hordes crazed consumers welcomed guests on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday in November.

I’ll highlight the titles of interest to me, and place commentary below.

Of particular interest… DC owns the rights to MAD Magazine.  Similar to Fantagraphics’ line of EC reprints, DC is editing the comics issues of MAD (#1-23) into artist-specific paperback collections.  Jack Davis, Will Elder, and Wally Wood will be featured this Fall.

As Chondra starts to investigate, she stumbles upon a bizarre cult that worships celebrities as eternal effigies. And these cult members aren’t just worshiping—they’re also ritually sacrificing anyone who defies their veneration of the beautiful and famous. Chondra’s probe takes her on a terrifying tour of burial mounds across the world, from Stonehenge to the Nazca Lines of Peru. But what is the link between the cult, Chondra’s hometown, and her own bloodline? Will Chondra become the hero detective she played as a child…or is she in fact the cult’s unwitting messiah?

Written by rising star Tim Seeley (BATMAN ETERNAL, GRAYSON, Revival) and illustrated by Marley Zarcone (Black Circle, MADAME XANADU), EFFIGY is a twisted murder mystery and conspiracy tale that examines celebrity, godhood, and the price of fame.

And once they get a taste of the fast life and easy money, it won’t be easy to stop.

Written by talented newcomer Ollie Masters with stunning art by Ming Doyle (Mara) and killer covers by Becky Cloonan (GOTHAM ACADEMY, Killjoys, DEMO), THE KITCHEN is not to be missed.

In the concluding volume of this Deluxe Edition series, embedded journalist Matty Roth watches as the Free States of America and the US wage civil war on the island of Manhattan—also known as the DMZ—with all his allegiances wiped away. As Matty covers the battles on the ground, old allies and enemies resurface and Matty must prove that after all he’s been through that he is a changed man. Will the choices he makes reflect this? And how will New York City look after it’s all said and done? Brian Wood’s critically acclaimed series DMZ ends here in this stunning, final chapter. Collects DMZ #45-59.

Summary: Written by Dennis O’Neil, the dean of Batman writers. While on a case far from Gotham City, Batman is injured, and by the time he recovers and returns to his home, Alfred is missing. As Batman searches for his missing friend, the corpses begin to mount amid rumors of human sacrifice and strange, primitive rituals. Using his detective skills, the Dark Knight begins to trail the madman who has been terrorizing Gotham City. The trail leads back to Wayne Manor and a maniacal cult, with Alfred’s life hanging in the balance.
