September is shaping up to be quite a busy month for VIZ Media. VIZ Media’s September releases promises something for everyone. The company will debut four new manga titles, two DVDs and the complete 21-volume series of Yūsei Matsui’s action comedy hit Assasination Classroom.
VIZ will kick off September with the release of the Assassination Classroom box set (MSRP: $189.99, available September 3). This special collection will include an exclusive, full-color, mini “yearbook” packed with previously unreleased character sketches in a variety of styles.
Next up is the complete 12-episode series Infini-T Force (Blu-ray MSRP: $44.98, available September 10) in which four superheroes (Gatchaman, Polisario, Casshan and Tekkaman) unite to stop the mysterious “Z” from destroying their worlds.
The bulk of VIZ Media’s September releases will take place September 17. Fans can catch ‘em all with the Pokémon: Black & White movie collection (Blu-ray MSRP: $24.98; DVD MSRP: $19.98). The two-DVD set brings together four feature films: Pokémon the Movie: Black, Pokémon the Movie: White, Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice, and Pokémon the Movie: Genesect And The Legend Awakened.
In Cats of the Louvre (MSRP: $29.99), Eisner Award-winning creator Taiyo Matsumoto (Tekkonkinkreet) imagines how at the Louvre Museum in Paris “an unseen and surreal world comes alive—a world witnessed only by the small family of cats that lives in the attic. Until now…”
And in Tasuku Karasuma’s cyberpunk series No Guns Life (MSRP: $12.99), a cyborg soldier whose head has been replaced with a giant gun has no memory of his previous life and how he underwent his transformation. He lives on the street as a Resolver and takes on cases involving other cyborg soldiers.
The Way of the Househusband (MSRP: $12.99) by Kousuke Oono is an older teen comedy about a former Yakuza legend who discards his gangster ways to live life as a househusband. However, the Immortal Dragon finds his new calling anything but routine.
Finally, in Levius by Haruhisa Nakata (MSRP: $34.99), cybernetically-enhanced fighters engage in mechanical martial arts as a way to survive his post-apocalyptic, nineteenth-century homeworld.
