After the abysmal failure that was Madame Web, Sony is still on its shared Spider-Man Universe with Kraven solo film pushed to December. Before that however, Tom Hardy is set to return for a third Venom film this October. Earlier today the first Venom: The Last Dance trailer was officially released. Check it out below.

Official synopsis for the film

Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

Written and directed by Kelly Marcel, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham. As noted by fans, quite a number of actors are no strangers to Marvel projects or Spidey films for that matter. Ifans of course, appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man film as Dr. Curt Connors / Lizard while Ejiofor is perhaps best known as portraying Mordo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Clearly Ejiofor isn’t reprising Mordo or any kind of multiversal variant.

However, fans have been pointing out some continuity issues. In the trailer we can see the same Mexican bar where Eddie Brock unintentional left a fragment of the Venom symbiote before being sent back to his home dimension. However, the bar was presumably was set in the MCU, however the Venom: The Last Dance trailer clearly depicts it as the normal Sony dimension with Dani Rojas actor Christine Fernandes reprising the bartender. If Simpsons taught us anything, just assume a wizard did it!

If nothing else, enjoy the image of Tom Hardy riding a Venom horse to the tune of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”

Venom: The Last Dance arrives in theaters on Oct. 25, 2024
