Paramount has announced plans for the immediate future of Star Trek, and it’s looking bright! Not only has Star Trek: Lower Decks has been renewed for a fourth season, but the third season of the animated comedy will be arriving on Paramount+ in summer 2022.
Plus: Star Trek: Discovery will return with ten more season four episodes on February 10th, 2022, and has been renewed for a fifth season; Star Trek: Picard season two will debut on March 3rd, 2022 (and has been renewed for a third, already-in-production season); Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Paramount+ on May 5th , 2022 (and has been renewed for second season); and we’ll be getting another ten episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy later in 2022.
Star Trek: Lower Decks Fourth Season
Lower Decks is not only returning with a ten-episode third season in summer of 2022, it’s also been renewed for a ten-episode fourth season.
What can we expect from Lower Decks in the future? For one thing, time travel! Series creator Mike McMahan revealed as much in an interview with my spouse, Rebecca Oliver Kaplan, over at Geek Girl Authority, stating definitively, “Lower Decks will handle time travel, probably more than once.”
(He also mentioned in that interview that clamoring for Lower Decks comics might be an effective strategy in getting such a title published, so those who really want more Lower Decks may want to consider that as they wait for the summer 2022 arrival of Lower Decks season three.)
Lower Decks stars Tawny Newsome as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Noël Wells as Ensign D’Vana Tendi, Jack Quaid as Ensign Bradward Boimler, Eugene Corderox as Ensign Samathan Rutherford, and Dawnn Lewis as Captain Carol Freeman.
The Cerritos returns in summer 2022
