USA Today, Variety, and other outlets report an official TMNT stage show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live on Stage!, will launch in Fall 2027. Described as following the turtles “from their comic book origins to becoming global pop culture icons, battling familiar villains along the way,” the show will tour across North America, and is being developed by Tony Award-winning producer Eva Price (Titanique), with writer Qui Nguyen (Raya and the Last Dragon), and Tony-nominated director and choreographer Jennifer Weber (& Juliet, KPOP).

Weber comments, “We’re combining martial arts, parkour, hip-hop, and comedy to create a version of TMNT that audiences haven’t seen before. Our goal is to make audiences feel like they’ve stepped directly into their world that is fast, funny, chaotic, heartfelt, and completely alive.”

Price adds, “TMNT has always been about energy, rebellion, brotherhood, and fun. This production takes everything audiences love about the original animated series and transforms it into a thrilling live show. Whether you grew up with the Turtles in the ’80s and ’90s or discovered them in the 21st century, this show is designed to bring fans together.”

The show will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the animated series, which premiered on December 28, 1987, three-and-a-half years after the debut of the original comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It’ll also coincide with the untitled Mutant Mayhem sequel, hitting theaters on August 13, 2027, and arrive ahead of the planned live-action reboot, which producer Neal H. Moritz (the Sonic the Hedgehog series) is developing for a release on November 17, 2028.

This won’t be the first time the turtles have starred in a stage show, as they previously embarked on a musical tour, Coming Out of Their Shells, in 1990. The tour, sponsored by Pizza Hut, featured music from the album of the same name, and a story about the turtles becoming a band, all performed in-costume. A follow-up, Gettin’ Down in Your Town, was staged at Six Flags parks across the country from 1992 to 1993.
