Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard’s The Ride will start a new five-part miniseries in June, featuring backup content from artist Adam Hughes.
This new series is headed for release right around the time of The Ride’s 15-year anniversary. Once billed as the flagship of the 12-Gauge Comics line, the new series will be published by Image Comics. With Wagner remaining a constant throughout, previous iterations of The Ride have included contributions from a long list of notable creators, such as Brian Stelfreeze, Chuck Dixon, Ron Marz, Cully Hammer and more.
The Ride is a crime comic that features a 1968 Camaro (which might be cursed) as the unifying element throughout a series of disparate stories. The new series will follow former Atlanta P.D. detective Samantha Vega, who after spending 15 years in prison (that number again!) is now working as a bouncer at an exotic dance club. Old enemies will, of course, show up to settle scores.
The Ride #1 is due out June 12. Full PR and some preview pages from Image can be found below:
Image Comics is pleased to announce that The Ride will celebrate its 15th anniversary with an all-new, five-part story from the award-winning team of Plastic—Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard. This action-packed miniseries will launch from Image Comics in June and will feature special backup content from Adam Hughes.
“Fifteen years? Really? Well then, I guess I’d better turn up the heat on this one,” said Wagner. “Let’s see. How about…Unicorn onesies, love paddles, leather bunny ears, a guy in a Sailor Moon outfit that’s way too tight, an angel with only one arm and a heroin problem, a hairless dwarf, and a disavowed detective whose past desperately wants her burned alive—are all going to take a road trip in a classic ’68 Camaro that may or may not be cursed. The Ride 15th anniversary is going to be a wild, disturbing, and excessively violent tale of redemption. Welcome to what I like to call FETISH NOIR!”
