The Polka-Dot Man to appear in THE SUICIDE SQUAD
Well, now I’ve heard everything.
David Dastmalchian has made a nice little career of popping up in superhero projects; kicking off with a short but memorable debut in The Dark Knight, careening into a supporting player in Ant-Man, and playing Abra Kadabra on The Flash. Now he’s about to get his biggest promotion yet, cast as a key member of James Gunn‘s iteration of the Suicide Squad.
Dastmalchian will play Abner Krill aka The Polka-Dot Man, who as the name would indicate, performs spot themed crimes and uses polka- dots as weapons. It’s a deep cut, but that’s not wholly surprising for Gunn, really…a bit of a comic head himself, he would often be seen at the local comic store down the street from my place when he was filming the two Guardians of the Galaxy films.
The Polka-Dot Man will join a team made up of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and whatever character Idris Elba will end up playing since they decided he will not be Deadshot after all. Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney are both coming back for the sequel entitled The Suicide Squad.
Other reported members that will comprise this team will be Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, and King Shark. John Cena is also in talks to join, and is rumored to be playing Peacemaker.
Set for an August 5, 2021 debut, The Suicide Squad is shaping up to be an exciting entry in the DC Cinematic canon.
