It’s been a while since we peeked in on Fandemic, a nerdlebrity/comics event that launched a couple of years ago. Founded by John Macaluso, the ex-showrunner at Wizard World, Fandemic got snake bit on its planned 2017 debut, when Hurricane Harvey turned the show’s venue – Houston’s NRG Center – into a relief shelter.

But the show did go on in 2018 and it’s back in 2019.

The FANDEMIC COMIC CON TOUR 2019 will be held October 18-20 at the NRG Center in Houston, with Sebastian Stan headlining, which has many people excited. Other guests include Milo Ventimiglia, The Phelps Twins, Jon Bernthal, Sean Astin, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, and even comics folks such as Michael Golden, Trina Robbins and Steve Leialoha.

We contacted Macaluso to check up on what was going on with Fandemic, and as always, he was in an energetic and upbeat mood.  The motto of his show, he always says, is to make sure people have a good time, and “treat them as if they were visiting my house. I personally greet people at the show!”

Fandemic is sticking with just its Houston event – for now at least, says Macaluso, But Houston is a huge market, and he and his team are set on putting on another fun, fan-focused show.

Macaluso comes from a background in the fashion industry, but got bit by the comic con bug while running Wizard World. Putting on a show is a lot of work, but as he jokingly told me, “I would drive my family nuts if I didn’t have something to keep me busy.”

You can see all the details at the Fandemic website –  they are currently running some ticket specials, as Macaluso himself announced.
