The Collector: Unit 731 is a new historical horror miniseries coming from Dark Horse Comics in April. The four-issue series arrives from the creative team of co-writer/artist Will Conrad, co-writer Rod Monteiro, and color artist Marco Lesko. It tells the story of an impossibly old World War II survivor, and the horrific events he experienced during the course of the war.

Here’s how Dark Horse describes The Collector: Unit 731:

A man can go by many names, and when someone has been around as long as Michael, he can gain more than just a few aliases. Now he’s Michael Smith, but back in the 1940s he went by James. When the obituary for John, who Michael met during WWII, comes up in the paper, Michael finds himself reflecting on a lifetime he left behind—and the horrors and experimentation he, John, and others, endured at the infamous Manchuria-based Japanese facility known as Unit 731.

The Collector is Will Conrad’s latest work for Dark Horse Comics. His previous credits with the publisher include artwork for books like Serenity, Angel & Faith: Season 10 and Kull. It’s the first Dark Horse work for Rod Monteiro, and the writer’s first collaboration with Conrad. He teased the collaboration on Twitter with a behind-the-scenes shot of the cover for issue #1 back in October:
