In the think of the current Dark Nights: Death Metal event, DC is already looking to the future of the tWiStEd mirror of the DCU they call the Dark Multiverse. The publisher today announced a pair of new Tales from the Dark Multiverse one-shots, featuring tWiStEd reimaginings of classic stories Batman: Hush and Flashpoint.

Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Batman: Hush #1 will be written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, with interior art by Dexter Soy and cover art by David Marquez. The story finds Bruce Wayne and Tommy Elliot’s roles reversed, with Elliot having become Gotham’s “Dark Prince” and Wayne transforming into “Batman the Silenced.” The announcement was accompanied by several pieces of interior art by Soy (which you can see at the bottom of this post), doing his best impression of original story artist (and DC Publisher) Jim Lee.

The Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Flashpoint #1 story is written and illustrated by Bryan Hitch, again with a cover by Marquez. The story follows the continuing story of the Flashpoint timeline had Barry Allen never set it right (if I had to guess, he dies when he gets struck by lightning on purpose at the end of Flashpoint #2), with Thomas Wayne continuing on as Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman still at war, and the Reverse-Flash potentially playing a heroic role in the proceedings.

Last week on Twitter, Hitch teased the project as a tie-in to Death Metal, though it’s unclear if the one-shot will actually be part of the event series or just take place within the overarching universe of the story.

The initial slate of 48-page Tales from the Dark Multiverse one-shots featured takes on DC perennial favorites like The Death of SupermanKnightfallBlackest Night, Infinite Crisis, and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. It seems likely that more one-shots will join Hush and Flashpoint at some point, so they can be all be collected in an attractive hardcover like the first set of tales were.
