Alert! Daily Marvel Event teases NEW event: Inhumans: Attilan Rising

4
Another day another Marvel event teaser, but this one is DIFFERENT. Instead of teasing the return of a golden oldie event, today's, revealed at EW, is a new event titled Inhumans: Attilan Rising, with art by W. Scott Forbes. This is significant for many reasons. For years, the word on the street has been that Marvel hopes to elevate the Inhumans paving the way for a movie property featuring a band of weirdly powered misfits to make up for not having the X-Men in their film universe. (Fox has the rights and shows no signs of slowing down with the franchise.)

New Marvels retro teasers take us back to The Infinity Gauntlet and Old Man...

We missed yesterday's Marvel teaser campaign entry, and it was a good one. The Infinity Gauntlet, originally by Jim Starlin, and one of the cornerstones of modern comics continuity and readership. And today's call out is Old Man Logan, by Mark Millar (him again!!!) and Steve McNiven, who draws this image. This one was revealed in a Tweet.

Daily Marvel Mystery Teaser: Armor Wars!

0
Yikes for today's Marvel mystery event thing we go all the way back to the 80s! Before there were Events!!! Armor Wars, by David Michelinie and Bob Layton, was one of the original golden age of Iron Man storyline and showcased Tony Stark's penchant for being a hoarder with his armor suits as being a bad thing. The current promo, by Steve Pugh, shows a bunch of different Stark Armors, including a mecha-szed one blowing a hole through the face of the Statue of Liberty. Nice one, Tony. Also shown: the Hulkbuster armor, West Coast Avengers-Iron Man and more.

Another day another Marvel Mega event teaser — “Years of Future Past”

Via Comic Book Resources, Marvel has added to it's mystery Summer event event, with a teaser by Art Adams reminiscent of the classic "Days of Future Past" storyline in the X-men. And everyone is in their classic 80s mufti too.

Sales Charts: In the backlist, DC is king

10
It's been a while (5 years) since we looked at Diamond's monthly backlist chart, and now, as then, it reveals a VERY DIFFERENT ranking for publishers. In the backlist, DC is king by a wide margin, with about 30% of the market. Marvel is only a tich above Image in units, while Image books dominate the top ten with Saga, Walking Dead, and Sex Criminals. On the manga side, Attack on Titan rules, no surprise given the way it's single handedly revitalized the category.

Noelle Stevenson, Mark Millar and others comment on the Civil War movie

11
With this week's epochal news that the Marvel Cinematic UNiverse will be adapting the Civil War event storyline, many are wondering...why? Few of the superheroes introduced in the MCU even have secret identities—which were the crux of the kerfuffle between Iron Man and Captain America. Some just think it's a bad idea on other terms. Noelle Stevenson, of Lumberjanes and Nimona fame, is one of the sharpest commentators on Twitter, with incisive character analysis delivered in short 140-character bursts. Her thoughts on Avengers characterization are below.

Jack Kirby and Marvel Settle: what we know, what we don’t

10
Friday's announcement of a settlement between Jack Kirby's heirs and Marvel seems like good news—but is it? And what does it mean? I'm told Jeff Trexler, whose identification of the "instance and expense" aspect of the lawsuit may have helped get that into the petition to the Supremes, is writing his summary for TCJ.com, so while we all eagerly await that, here's a little of the known knowns and known unknowns: First off, Mark Evanier, a Kirby family confidant, a witness at various Kirby-related trials and filier of an amicus curiae brief is certainly in a position to know more of the Kirby position and this is all he had to say on the matter:
