Vagrant Queen is the story of Elida, a former child queen driven from her throne and now wandering the galaxy as an orphaned outcast, evading the revolutionaries who continue to hunt her down. Elida has built a life as a scavenger and outlaw, when an old frenemy, Isaac, turns up with news about her long-lost mother Xevelyn. She is forced to return to her broken kingdom in hopes of staging a rescue before a deadly foe from childhood, Commander Lazaro, can find her.

Now a new live action series based on the comic written by Eisner and GLAAD Media Award-nominated author Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim, Eternity Girl, Transformers vs. Visionaries) and illustrated by Jason Smith is heading to Syfy in 2020 starring Adriyan Rae (Light as a FeatherAtlanta) as Elida, Tim Rozon (DiggstownWynonna EarpSchitt’s Creek) as Isaac, and Paul du Toit (Maze Runner) as Lazaro.

“The one thing I always wanted Vagrant Queen to be was a space opera that didn’t take itself too seriously,” said Visaggio. “Let other people have prophecies and Chosen Ones and restoring the ancient throne; I wanted to do a book about someone running from the past instead of eager to uncover it, where the mystery wasn’t in some mystical power or forgotten legend, but in a young woman struggling to make her own way in the universe.”

The show will be produced by Blue Ice Pictures with Lance Samuels (Goalie, The Indian Detective, Madiba) and Daniel Iron (Goalie, Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, The Indian Detective) as executive producers as well as F.J. DeSanto and Damian Wassel from Vault Comics, and Dan March from Dynamic Television. Take a look at the recently released promo trailer below
