tyler hoechlin

Recently announced that he’d be making an appearance on the second season of Supergirl, now headed to the CW from its original home at CBS, fans instantly began lighting up the twitter-sphere with hopes and predictions as to who might fill Superman’s tights.

For my own part, I was crossing my fingers that we’d get a little more of that “Jay Garrick/Earth 3” magic and Brandon Routh would get a chance to reprise the role. It wouldn’t make any sense really, but hey, these are my dreams, darn it!

Today, the network revealed that Tyler Hoechlin, who was a series regular on MTV’s Teen Wolf and one of the stand-outs in my favorite film of the year currently, Everybody Wants Some, has been cast as Supergirl’s older cousin.

He will initially appear in the first two episodes of the new season. Here’s Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg on the new addition:

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Season 2 of Supergirl will begin this Fall.

  1. isn’t he too young to play Supergirl’s man of steel? I only watched a few episodes but hasn’t he already reached adulthood and been superman for years when Kara shows up as a 12 year old?
