The latest wave of Milestone titles from DC Comics began hitting shops last month. Among the titles is Static: Shadows of Dakota, a follow-up series to last year’s Static: Season One. The new six-issue miniseries, from writer/artist Nikolas Draper-Ivey, co-writer Vita Ayala, and letterer AndWorld Design, picks up three months after the events of the previous series and follows Virgil Hawkins as he faces new threats in Dakota City. Yesterday DC revealed that Static: Shadows of Dakota #1 is going back for a second printing, with a cover featuring design artwork for Virgil by Draper-Ivey.

Here’s the new variant cover for the Static: Shadows of Dakota #1 Second Printing:

Along with the cover reveal, The Beat is pleased to present an unlettered preview for the second issue of the series, which is due out in stores next week. Here’s how the publisher describes the issue:

As if vigilantes hunting down Bang Babies in the streets weren’t enough, Virgil learns that his young friend Quincy is manifesting powers—making him their next target! Meanwhile, down in the shadows, Ebon is investigating a connection between the vigilantes and the disappearance of his brother, Rubberband Man!

The next issue of the series features a main cover by Draper-Ivey, an open-to-order variant cover by Paris Alleyne, and a 1:25 incentive variant cover by Sanford Greene.

Check out the preview and covers for Static: Shadows of Dakota #2 below. The issue is due out in stores and digitally next Tuesday, March 7th. The second printing of the series’ first issue is available for preorder now, and due in comic shops on Tuesday, March 28th.
