Notorious for spoiling rumors throughout the years, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland confirmed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that Spider-Man 4 is now well underway. The actor replied to the rumors circulating that the film was indeed “Happening” and confirmed that filming of the project begins next summer and that everything is “Good to go,” going against an original rumor that thought the contrary.

A previous report from Variety stated that the status of the film’s script was excellent but still needed work making it seem like the project was further out than expected. Holland stated, “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.”

Apparently, these rumors were false as the movie starts shooting next year.

The actor also has shown that he’d like to incorporate some sort of MCU version of Miles Morales eventually into the movies, saying at the Rich Roll podcast “If I would be lucky enough to somehow bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man universe and into the MCU, I’d love to do for a young kid what Downey did for me.”

The new Spider-Man 4 movie will be directed by the highly acclaimed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, who is taking over after Jon Watts’ Spider-Man Trilogy. Cretton is getting Marvel’s second biggest project under his belt after having been taken off the Avengers movie in favor of a return to the Russo Brothers, who directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The last time a Spider-Man movie was released was in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that movie, the film took liberties in adapting the infamous One More Day though in lieu of undoing Peter and MJ’s marriage, it took the story back to basics, having everyone forget Spider-Man’s real identity and thus erasing everyone’s history outside of Peter’s knowledge of events.
