Welcome back to the Small Press Spotlight! This week, Second Sight Publishing drops their April releases while Linebreakers goes from hobby shop to comic publisher. Keep reading for more details.

LinebreakersBased in Victorville, CA, Linebreakers is known as the largest comic and hobby shop in the High Desert. Now the popular location is branching out and publishing their own titles under the name Linebreakers Comics. First up for the company is Cosmic Adventures, written by Jakob Free. Art is by Javier Yasir Fajardo, letters are from Antonio “Toto” Esposito, and Linebreakers owner David McKean serves as Creative Director and Editor. The publisher describes the book as a series that “takes a ragtag group of space-faring travelers and puts them in the path of danger with hijinks along the way.” For an ashcan preview or to check out Issue #0, click here.

Linebreakers LinebreakersSecond Sight Publishing has even more horror titles this spring for fans of the genre. Freakshow Knight #1 One Shot is ready to debut on April 7. Written by Jonathan Hedrick, interiors and covers are by Stefano Cardoselli. The publisher’s synopsis is here:

During his time in prison, Red was surrounded by the worst types of people: thieves, rapists, and murderers. Now on the outside, he’s surrounded by the living dead. Armed with the only thing he’s ever known – violence – Red finds one last chance at redemption for a lifetime of sin.

Also releasing on April 7 is Duplicant, a five-issue series by writer Karla Nappi, artist Marianna Strychowska, and cover artist Leila Del Duca. The series is described as “a thriller about the forces conspiring against the one man who offers hope during a pandemic. That man is Matt Travers, a scientist who creates duplicate organs that saves humanity from the organ failure contagion… only their high cost forces people into indentured servitude. In answer to this, a dangerous black market arises which is run by a religious fanatic and Matt’s former mentor. Following Matt’s life-changing encounter with a “Duplicant,” a recipient of his technology, he comes to question everything he knows as he strives to learn the truth behind his encounter.”

Second Sight’s third entry for April is Chess #1. Another five-part miniseries, words are by Alfred Paige and Alex De Gruchy, and interior art and covers are from JC Fabul.

Missions by no rules… Second Sight comics introduces you to C.H.E.S.S. When hard decisions need to be made Avery Davis makes them. By putting together an under the radar Strike Team to take on missions that need a personal touch. Avery sends the C.H.E.S.S. Team to investigate businessman Nakadi after hearing about his crooked actions from an inside source.

LinebreakersFinally, get ready for Blowtorch #1 (of 5), another series from Paige and De Gruchy, featuring art from Osvaldo Pestana Montpeller and cover art by Rick Tyndall.

From the pages of C.H.E.S.S., Blowtorch takes a personal mission to save the woman he was once in love with – and maybe still is – from an out-of-control government experiment.
