This week in Small Press Spotlight, we try to help a publisher stay afloat in this crazy pandemic world we live in. We also love a creepy horror book, and Source Point Press delivers the goods. Read the details below!

It’s Alive! was created by Eisner Award nominee Drew Ford and has garnered a positive reputation for publishing out-of-print comics, English translations of foreign material, original projects, and other unique collectibles, but the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the company hard. With titles like Breathers, Dose!, Holler, and Pink Lemonade, their creators want to continue to put out quality, exciting books, which is why Ford has set up a GoFundMe page here.

It's Alive! Not sure if you want to back them? Try Pink Lemonade, for starters. Created by Nick Cagnetti, the comic centers on a mysterious motorcycle-riding adventurer clad in a colorful costume trying to rediscover her true purpose in life. She wants to be good and helpful, but sometimes things don’t go as expected. Action-packed and fun, the quirky tale is appealing on all levels.

Looking for a new nightmare? Source Point Press has you covered. Damned, Cursed Children is a five-issue mini-series written by Howard Wong and Josh Stafford with art by Robin Simon Ng. Read the publisher’s description here:

In the sudden aftermath of a series of horrifying attacks, a group of strangers is forced together in a city gone mad. How many will overcome every human instinct, and do the unimaginable to survive in a world with Damned, Cursed Children?!

With a 1950s cult horror feel, the comic takes a look at just how far people will go in a world gone mad while deftly using the “kids are creepy” plot point to deliver plenty of scares. Pick up your copy in your favorite comic shop on January 27.
