Small Press Spotlight Wednesday has arrived and we’re celebrating love this week, thanks to A Wave Blue World’s upcoming LGBTQIA+ love anthology The Color of Always. The book will have a new edition for distribution in the direct and book market from the New York-based publisher.

The anthology was originally funded through Kickstarter by editors Brent Fisher and Michele Abounader and features a comic collection of personal stories about LGBTQIA+ love. Fisher and Abounader used the campaign funds not only to pay the creators but also to print a small batch of books through their imprint Extra Pages Press to send to backers.

The upcoming edition through A Wave Blue World will feature a new version of the original cover by Elisa Romboli as well as fresh bonus content. The publisher notably publishes LGBTQIA+-friendly anthologies such as Dead Beats, Embodied, and Young Men in Love.

“At a time where stories that champion and contextualize diversity are under assault, we wanted to elevate queer creative voices as both a preservation of truth and an opportunity to educate,” said Fisher in a statement.

“We are incredibly proud of this collection and everyone involved,” added Abounader. “It is important to us, on both a personal and professional level, to give creators this platform to tell their stories authentically, without censorship, sterilization, or judgment.”
