Trigger Keaton wasn’t well liked. He was an action star. He was an asshole. And he has been found dead. To find out whodunnit, his previous screen sidekicks will need to team up. So goes the premise of Skybound Entertainment/Image Comics newest series The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton. The new series from Kyle Starks and Chris Schweizer will debut on June 9 2021.
Starks & Schweizer last teamed on Dynamite’s Mars Attacks! series in 2019. The pair have five Eisner nominations between them.
Kyle Starks has twice had his work nominated for Best Humor Publication in the Eisners (2016 for Sexcastle, 2018 for Rock Candy Mountain). He has also written some-forty issues of the Oni Rick and Morty comic. Needless to say, the comedy in The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton should have quite some pedigree.
Says Starks, “Chris came to me and suggested the remarkable title which we crafted into the tale of six former kid TV sidekicks trying to solve the murder of their awful human TV mentor. Sort of like Knives Out meets Once Upon A Time In Hollywood?”
He continues,
“If there are two things I love to write, it’s charming dummies and action, and this book is full of both plus rising stakes, escalating nonsense and a lot of fun. Comics should be fun, so we made a fun one!”
Chris Schweizer adds: “We were keen to take an action story and structure it around a mystery. We both like mystery comedies like Monk, Knives Out, and Psych, and we wanted to combine those genres in a way that was fun for us and fresh for the reader.”
