It’s already the weekend again, and that means weekend reading 45 is upon us! As the situation with COVID-19 continues to be unsafe, we’re staying inside Stately Beat Manor and catching up on our reading… which, after forty-five consecutive weekends, is basically the only thing we can remember ever even doing on the weekend.

What will you be reading this weekend? Let The Beat know in the comment section or on social media! We always enjoy hearing what you’re paging through.

Weekend Reading 45: Juliet Takes a Breath

AVERY KAPLAN: This weekend, I’ll be re-reading the first volume of Bug Boys by Laura Knetzger! Then, as far as prose goes, I’ll be reading Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera.

Weekend Reading 45: Dragon Hoops

TAIMUR DAR: Early in 2020 through my part-time job in a library magazine office I obtained a copy of Dragon Hoops by The Beat’s Comics Industry Person of the Year Gene Luen Yang. Unfortunately the pandemic hit and I left it in the office where it’s been sitting for the past few months. As luck would have it, I was recently able to make a quick trip to the office and made sure to pick up my copy of Dragon Hoops while I was there. So now I can finally enjoy the book that’s been on my reading list for some time.

Weekend Reading 45: Riverdale: The Ties That Bind

BILLY HENEHAN: There is currently no heat in my apartment, and it’s 13 degrees outside,  so I plan on warming myself by the light of my iPad under many layers  as I read through an advance copy of the upcoming Riverdale graphic novel, The Ties That Bind, by writer Michol Ostow and illustrator Thomas Pitilli. I read Michol’s Riverdale novels, and she nails the characters’ voices every time. I’m hoping the team can capture the show’s craziness on the page!
