Well, it’s been another week, and that means it’s time for Weekend Reading 43! As usual for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, here at Stately Beat Manor, we’ll be passing the time by getting lost in a good book.

What will you be reading this weekend? We’d love to hear about your reading plans in the comment section!

Weekend Reading 43
Weekend Reading 43: The Matrix Comics

AVERY KAPLAN: This weekend, I’ll be reading Marvel Action: Captain Marvel: Cosmic CAT-tastrophe by Sam Maggs, Sweeney Boo, Brittany Peer, and Christa Miesner. Borne of the collaboration between IDW and Marvel, the story follows a full-scale Flerken invasion! Then, I’ll be revisited The Matrix Comics, edited by Spencer Lamm. It’s been (a very long) year since I’ve read it, so it seems like a good time!

Weekend Reading 43: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga

TAIMUR DAR: Continuing my deep dive into the original Usagi Yojimbo stories from Stan Sakai. This weekend I’ll be reading the massive collection of The Usagi Yojimbo Saga Volumes 1 and 2 that Dark Horse published a few years ago. They’re no longer in print but thanks to the libby app I’m able to read the adventures of Miyamoto Usagi from the comfort at home through my iPad.

Weekend Reading 43: Inuyasha

ARPAD OKAY: This weekend, I’m starting Rumiko Takahashi’s manga Inuyasha. A 90s kid slash descendant of a legendary warrior is ripped through time and bound to the book’s titular half-demon to undertake a quest that will last a million trade paperbacks. I can’t undersell how much I love Takahashi’s Ranma 1/2a chaotic and hilarious and whip-smart martial arts romantic comedy. I look forward to a similar endless parade of formidable and unexpected adversaries. Powerful women. Some wild monster-demon-yokai Go Nagai looking foes as well. Probably some awkward love stories. Fun. I predict this read will be fun, a total blast, a classic that will hold up to the hype.
