Weekend Reading 117
Weekend Reading 117: The Argonauts & Marbles.

AVERY KAPLAN: This weekend, I’m going to be reading a graphic memoir that was mentioned by Emma Grove in my interview with her about The Third Person over at Prism Comics: Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, & Me by Ellen Forney. Then, as far as prose goes, the recent trans-directed, trans-guest starring episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, “The Serene Squall,” name-checked The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson. Since this book will still be recommended reading in the twenty-third century, I’m getting a head-start on it this weekend!

Weekend Reading 117: Rann-Thanagar War.

TAIMUR DAR: I’m prepping for my interview press coverage of the upcoming Green Lantern: Beware My Power animated film. As revealed in the trailer, the film definitely takes some cues from the Rann–Thanagar War miniseries written by Dave Gibbons, and illustrated by Ivan Reis, Marc Campos, and John Kalisz is a big influence on the film. Likewise, I’ll be checking out the Adam Strange series from 2004-2005 by Andy Diggle and Pasqual Ferry which likewise led into the Rann-Thanagar War and also likely had some influence on the film since Adam Strange features prominently.
