SHAZAM! is getting a new four-issue miniseries arriving in July from the creative team of writer Tim Sheridan and artist Clayton Henry, DC Comics has announced.

The book — which also feature colors by Marcelo Maiolo — looks to roughly in line with the ideas and sensibilities that Sheridan and collaborators explored with Future State: Shazam!, almost certainly also tying into the other book he’s writing, Teen Titans Academy (the book says From the pages of Teen Titans Academy! on its cover). It’s not hard to see the connections there given that those two Future State books also overlapped a little bit.

You can draw your own conclusions from the preview text DC released, which I have valiantly copied and pasted for your perusal below…

Billy Batson came to Titans Academy looking for answers, but so far has kept his Shazam! identity a secret from his new classmates. Why was the rest of his adopted family cut off from the power of Shazam!? Why are his own powers becoming increasingly unreliable? What has happened to the Rock of Eternity, where is the Wizard, and who can help Billy get his powers back to normal before these mysterious events turn into a full-blown crisis?

The answers send Billy on an outrageous adventure that’ll not only change him…but have an immense impact on the school and other students on Titans Island!

Shazam! #1 is slated to hit on July 20 with a main cover by Henry and Maiolo. In addition, the book will have a cardstock variant by Gary Frank with colors by Brad Anderson, as well as a 1:25 card stock variant by the great Steve Lieber. The book will retail for $3.99 with a $4.99 price tag for the aforementioned card stock variants.

You can check out all three covers for Shazam! #1 below, with the main cover, followed by the Frank and Anderson cover, and finally the (Very Good) cover by Lieber…enjoy!
