Deadline reports Imogen Poots (Black Christmas, The Father) and John Reynolds (Search Party, Yellowjackets) have been cast in the lead roles of Prime Video’s Sex Criminals series. The show, based on the Image Comics series by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, is a comedy revolving around Suze (Poots) and Jon (Reynolds), a couple who embark on a bank-robbing spree after discovering they can literally stop time when they have sex.

The series is being overseen by Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, and Tze Chun, who will serve as executive producers with Fraction, Zdarsky, and Margot Robbie‘s production company LuckyChap. Nanjiani is also expected to make an acting appearance on the show, which has received an eight-episode order from Prime. While Amazon MGM Studios had no comment, Fraction, Nanjiani, Gordon, and Chun all confirmed the news on social media.

Poots, 36, most recently starred in Kristen Stewart‘s directorial debut The Chronology of Water, for which she earned an award from the Denver Film Festival. Sex Criminals will mark her third comic book role, following the 2017 film version of I Kill Giants, and 2006’s V for Vendetta, where she played the young Valerie Page.

Reynolds, 34, might be best-known to comic book fans for his Stranger Things character, Officer Callahan, who co-starred in Dark Horse’s 2022 Stranger Things Summer Special. Having been absent from the show’s final season, his most recent acting roles came in the rom com Oh, Hi!, and on FX’s Adults, as well as in the indie comedy Seekers of Infinite Love, which premiered at the SXSW earlier this year.

Expect more news on Prime’s upcoming releases from Amazon’s advertising upfront, which’ll be held tonight, at 6:30pm ET. The streamer’s current, big outrageous comic book TV show, The Boys, will conclude on Wednesday, May 20, with 4DX screenings set to be held the night before.
